YMCA Geneva Park
Mindcamp takes place at the YMCA Geneva Park Conference Centre, 138 kilometers (86 miles) north of Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Geneva Park is on its own peninsula in Lake Couchiching, the “little sister” lake of Lake Simcoe, across the lake from Orillia, Ontario. Click here for a PDF map of the property. Mindcamp mostly happens in the bottom bit, but you’re free to roam around.
This region is traditionally territory of the Chippewas of Rama First Nations people, who call this area “the gathering place”, where travellers rested before continuing on their journey, and where great meetings were held and important agreements signed. Today the band has 1,500 members in the area, with their own school, seniors’ centre, community centre, and community services.
Regular rooms are clean and comfortable, fitted out like a moderately priced hotel. Linens and towels are provided. Participants can choose from shared (top picture) or single (middle picture) accommodation. The whole property has WiFi.
Regular Rooms: “Court” and “Lodge”Regular rooms are fitted out like a moderately priced hotel. Some rooms have twin beds, some have a queen bed. Some even have a double and a twin, with the option of a cot for a child.
All the regular rooms have ensuite three-piece washrooms, closets, and shelves for your stuff.
There are only a limited number of single rooms available; most of the rooms are meant to be shared. If you don’t have a roommate coming with you, we can find one for you.
Crappy Budget Rooms: “Lee”The crappy budget rooms are very small and very rustic. All are shared. There is just two narrow single beds, and very little space. Shared toilets and showers are located in a separate building 20-30 yards away.
You will be co-occupying a poorly ventilated, uninsulated room with another Mindcamper as well as a variety of insects and arachnids. If you’re not already familiar with these rooms and thinking “OK I can do that” then we recommend you don’t. Book only if you are tolerant of discomfort and eager to save money.
Plan to arrive at Mindcamp before 4:30pm
Plan to leave Mindcamp after 2:00pm Sunday

Here is advice and directions for the various ways to get to Mindcamp. Click on them to make the details appear (or go away).
It’s a two-hour drive: under two hours if you’re coming from the airport (and it’s easy to rent a car from there), and just over if you’re coming from downtown. Click here for a printable PDF of directions from Toronto.
YYZ Toronto Pearson International Airport is our main portal to the world, the airport most convenient to Geneva Park.
YTZ Billy Bishop Airport (informally known as “The Island Airport” as it’s on a small island in Lake Ontario near the city centre), is good if you want to spend time downtown, but it’s not as close and you will likely have to find your way up to Pearson Airport to get a shuttle. If you are NOT planning to spend a few days downtown, flying into Toronto Pearson Airport makes more sense.
If you’re flying in, you need to give yourself time to travel from the airport to Geneva Park: a 90-minute drive, and add to that the time taken to collect baggage, pass through Customs and Immigration, picking up a rental car or connecting with the shuttle, and of course the ever-present possibility of flight delays.
If you know someone else flying in at about the same time as you, book together to save money! If two book together the cost goes down to $62.50 each. If three, it goes to $50 each. And so on.
If you are leaving for Pearson Airport on Sunday afternoon, DON’T book with Simcoe County Airport Service for the return trip just yet. We are going to create groups of 8 or 9 (we hope) to share shuttles back; you will have a chance to get on that list while you’re at Mindcamp.
